The Life Doula: Waiting for Inspiration to Strike

Last month I had one of those weekends, you know the ones where you roll around in bed knowing there is a substantial list of errands to be done; and guess what your not getting around to doing them. Procrastination can cause us to be very productive. This was not procrastination it was out and out avoidance. I turned on the computer I even open my email and sent a gargled unstructured message about a media plan to a colleague and then kinda gave up.

Everything went out the window. Drinking water, eating right, even eating I just avoided everything except for Facebook of course, then I remember Pinterest mused around my emails a while, watched some Marie Forleo and slowly begun to find my flow again. Why did Maria help me? Because she actually tapped into what I was interested in. Having a fulfilling creative business that could be diverse, yet also meet others needs and my own wants. Apparently that is possible. So I let it settle a little longer. And there it is 'let it settle a little longer'. I knew where my wane in enthusiasm started, it was lack of sleep and then after that it was almost certainly a lack of water and oh then it was almost certainly a lack of nutrients and then after that maybe just maybe I needed a little bit of time to myself.

These may not be the answers that you are looking for on the road to self discovery and re-
awakening. Self-care is a principle that I try to live by. If I really can't face it I don't. I don't believe in being super brave or people pleasing. I believe in following your instincts and always checking in with your needs.

You see I need sleep, lots of sleep, ten hours a night of sleep whenever possible and if I don't get it I will cat nap. If I haven't got the good few delta hours I need to dream deeply you might as well sign me up for another ten hour session. My sleep or lack of it affects everything in my life, from my focus to my attitude. It's my priority. After that it's water. I need sleep more than water. I can talk to you about water later. However the main reason for this post is that you have to think about what it is that is a bare necessity, the thing you can't live without and what the fall out is if you don't get it? For different people it's different things, maybe it's exercise, love, cuddles or hair dye. I don't know. I'm not you......So think about it. What do you need?

Avoidance days or duvet days don't come from nowhere and in fact we must take the time to reframe them effectively they're human days, when we refuse to fit into the exterior world means of production. To be nonproductive is not to be obsolete. Remember we are human beings.......
