Retrospective: Ethical Job Search

Sometimes I drink Coca-cola.  I drink it more often than I want to admit and I cringe every time I see a worker buying it as part of their lunchtime ritual. Every time I buy a can of coke especially when I'm hungover. I know I have poisoned myself, and the world around with more sugar, more plastic, more propaganda, western ideologies and of course I'm contributing to the capitalist system that is wrecking the planet.

Nothing happens in isolation.

Looking at the above implications of merely drinking a can of coke sometimes it's really hard to get enthused at the even the concept of work, post subsistence farming; and although I may be complicit in many of the unnatural evolutions of modern human life if hard to be fully committed to those processes as part of a full-time working career.

Clearly working for an oil company is a no no or in fact almost any corporate reinvention in fact any money making machine would appear to be the enemy. Or is it I frequently find myself double guessing as the job adverts; overtly sticking to the hipster spin of dynamic, sustainable and forward thinking, while jumbling in branding and promotion. Of course it occurs to me it's all fake. If I was to go to the interview and unravel my forward thinking sustainable ideas, the whole fabric of the average human life would well, slowly dissolve.
